To Our Friends and Loyal Supporters of Barrel Theory Beer Company,

Like all of you, the entire team at Barrel Theory has been closely monitoring the current situation surrounding COVID-19. Last Thursday we instituted several policies in our taproom to ensure a more aggressive cleaning and disinfecting of shared surfaces, among several other changes, to limit the potential risk that our employees and anyone visiting us would be exposed to.  Unfortunately, we have come to the conclusion that this simply isn’t enough.  Beginning Monday, March 16 the Barrel Theory taproom will be closed for all draft beer sales until further notice.  We will stay open during limited hours for crowler sales only.  Our plan as of now is to have to-go be available from noon – 6 p.m. during this time.  Our crowler availability can be found on our website and will be regularly updated with any changes.

The health and safety of our employees is our utmost priority, and it’s hard to express the level of stress and anxiety that our bartenders are feeling at a time like this as they interact with a high volume of people each day.  We’re a fairly busy taproom, and while this past weekend made it obvious that many individuals are practicing some social distancing, there was still hundreds of you that came out to support us during these weird and challenging times.  We absolutely appreciate the support of our community, but the busier we are, the harder it becomes to maintain the rigorous cleanliness standards that we hold ourselves to.

This has not been an easy decision to make, but fortunately we’re in a position to make it.  All of our employees will continue to be paid for all scheduled hours during this period and we’ll be making up for 100% of our bartenders lost tipped wages.  Just like all of you, we hope that this situation is short lived and we can get back to business as usual very soon, but we would prefer to adopt an overly cautious attitude at this time.  We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate our plans moving forward as the situation evolves.

Again, thank you to everyone for your support of us and all of your local small businesses.  This is a challenging time for many small businesses and our hearts go out to everyone that is being impacted by this situation.  Be safe, check in on those in our community that need an extra hand, and we hope to see you all again very soon.
