Remember 2017?

As we close out the first month of 2018, we can’t help but look back on the year that was 2017. A lot of really great things happened for Barrel Theory in that year. The most important thing? We opened. Here’s a quick look back at some cool things that happened over the past calendar year.

We opened

Barrel Theory officially opened its doors to the public on June 22nd at 3pm CST. There were 5 beers on tap–Batch 1, Rain Drops, Raining 3s, Java Oats, and Key Sublime. Head brewer Timmy continued working hard brewing more beer, added lead brewer Tyler Ostlund to our team, and put beer into barrels and Crowlers for you to take home. We welcomed many of you to our Member Society and had our first bottle release–Draco.

We were Kind of a Big Deal

The Growler Mag awarded us with the honor of Best New Brewery in their annual Kind of A Big Deal Awards because of your votes. Lots of breweries opened in 2017 and we continue to be blown away by your support. So thank you!

We were also nominated for: Best Kettle Sour (Key Sublime, MPG), Best Fruited Beer (Key Sublime, MPG), Best IPA (Rain Drops), Best Brewery, Best Taproom, Best Industry Beard (Brett Splinter), Best Beer Tattoo (Brett Splinter, Tristian Seidel), Best Beertender (Connor Tripp, Travis Stanich), & Best Beer Artwork (Draco by Brent Schoonover). Not bad.

We MADE SOME LISTS

Beer Advocate named us as part of the Class of 2017 Best New Breweries. Hop Culture named us one of their Favorite New Breweries of 2017, & Rate Beer rated us Best New Brewer in Minnesota in 2017.

WHAT To look forward to in 2018

Barrel-aged beer, more bottle releases, really cool collaborations, festivals, events, & much much more.
